***Guaranteed Improvement For ALL Golfers***
Golfers seeking consistency, improvement, lower scores and lower handicaps, have successfully achieved their goals through the coaching of Dennis Murray. From Fred Funk to Kevin Stadler, from Michael Jordan to Glenn Frey, Kevin Neelon to Bill Murray, Scotty Hamilton to Joe Sakic, little children to old folks, all of them share a common thread -- better golf through Coach Murray. The learning process is the key, not the teaching process, according to "Coach" Murray. He believes it's a "two-way street" when it comes to the relationship between student and instructor. The learning process is the Coach's responsibility. He provides the tools called Specific Practice Routines (SPR) needed for each student to build or improve their golf game. The practice process is the student's obligation. Regardless of a Coach's ability, proper practice is the key to learning or improving motor skills. Every student's progress is dependent on how these tools are used. Improvements generally parallel applied efforts that result in immediate and permanent improvements. This makes learning more fun and motivates students to practice more often. Specific Practice Routines designed for specific problems acellerates the learning process. Most golfers don't know how to practice--what they're actually doing is exercising with a golf club, and getting frustrated when all the effort doesn't improve their game.
When these tools (Specific Practice Routines) are used properly and often, every student enjoys improvements. An individual's goals will dictate how much practice is required to achieve them. For most students, proper practice habits will actually reduce the amount of time spent on the practice ground while increasing the amount of time and pleasure playing better golf and playing more often.
When both ends of this "two-way street" agreement are honored, success is the end result. Endless hours of practice aren't necessary to learn to play golf or to improve an existing game. Proper practice leads to immediate learning and improving regardless of skill level. Once a student understands and is able to experience the awareness mode, learning begins to happen. By learning how to monitor "the feel" rather than listening to out of control self-talk that prevents learning from taking place, every golfer begins to make progress.
Left-brain control of the golf swing leads to profound failure. Muscle tension or tightness is one of the more serious problems that golfers encounter. For a coordinated blending of the athletic movements necessary to swing a golf club and play the various strokes required, a golfer must learn to control, quiet, or tame the over-controlling, tension-producing left brain analyzer. That enables the right brain integrator to plug into and utilize the instincts required for peak motor skill performance. Eye hand coordination is more easily developed in the proper frame of mind. The game of golf must be played by feel -- not by conscious thought.
Thinking must be done in preparation to play the shot. Once we're over the ball, thinking must cease and our awareness must be aroused to the point of great sensitivity to the conditions and what we are feeling. Muscle tension or tightness is one of the more serious problems that golfers encounter. When this is done, we can experience, we can learn, we can anticipate success with confidence and we can perform at peak performance levels on a consistent basis. The mind must be quiet while we're in the see-feel-do mode of playing golf shots.
At The Ridge, the UNCOMPLICATED GOLF instruction format begins with a relaxed get together over a cup of coffee or tea to get acquainted. Being relaxed with the instructor ... removed from golf clubs, golf balls, nervous anxiety, stress, fear and all the expectations, is a must... We discuss the student's background in golf and their goals. Now, we can come up with an UNCOMPLICATED GOLF improvement gameplan. Instructors must responsibly deliver information specific to each student's needs, providing each individual the best opportunity available for learning to play the game of golf to their fullest potential. That's what we do best through UNCOMPLICATED GOLF instruction... |
